Renewable Energy
Resources
Renewable energy is the way of the FUTURE.
As a city, we need to find affordable ways to utilize renewable energy
sources in City owned buildings. Using wind power, solar power, or other
renewable energy resources would enable the city and its residents to
save on energy expenses. I will strive to help Fitchburg become one of
the top energy efficient cities in the Commonwealth.
Delinquent Tax Payers
Delinquent tax payers are draining the citys ability to meet its
financial obligations. I will push for increase efforts to have these
unpaid taxes paid back to the city. Pursuing unpaid taxes will be a big
help in getting the city out of the its financial mess. We
need tougher laws against those who do not pay their taxes. These taxes include
excise tax and property tax.
Incentives for First
Time Home-Buyers
I
will
research incentives for first time
home-buyers. These incentives could include lower interest rates on
mortgages or help with a down payment. This would help attract more
residents and help young families buy their first home.
Fitchburg
State College
It is
a privilege and a great asset to have a college in our city. We as a
city need to find ways to attract the college students to the downtown
area. I will push to provide safer access to the downtown area and to
have more activities geared towards the college students in the downtown
area.
Communications between
City Officials
I will
push
to have better communications between city officials. Better
communication means better planning and taking a proactive approach
rather than a reactive approach. Communication is necessary to
address and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Rt. 2 On/Off Ramp at
Mt. Elam Rd.
I will support and assist in efforts to get
an East/West access ramp onto Route 2 near or at Mt. Elam Rd. This
would increase access to the highway for city residents. I also intend
to research the feasibility of extending 5th Massachusetts
Turnpike from Oak Hill Rd. to Rollstone St.
